Top Five Sustainable Clothing Brands – Lounge Wear

As much as I enjoy style and dressing up for an evening out with friends, 9 times out of 10 you will find me at home in comfy sports or lounge wear.

Particularly in the chilly winter evenings, there’s nothing better than being cosy and comfy.

It’s becoming better recognised that the fast fashion industry has a really negative impact on the plant. The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries following closely behind the oil industry. Not only is there a detrimental effect on the planet, but the ethical implications are often highly damaging.

All the brands below also use organic cotton or bamboo, which is highly important to me.

Below are five brands of clothes that I have worn, tried and tested thoroughly.

Rapanui

This is a great brand that works with a number of charities producing a variety of items from statement print T-shirts to funky bamboo socks to plaid shirts. You can read more details on them here in one of my earlier posts. I have some plain t-shirts myself that I have had for nearly and year and they remain super soft and have held their shape well. You can read more about the brand in my earlier post here.

Positive Outlook

This company focuses on the use of organic bamboo for it clothing. Bamboo is a great super soft, lightweight and breathable material. Here is an earlier post where I take a closer look at the brand.

The White T-shirt Company

The White T- shirt Company focuses around classic basics that you wear time and time again. The cut of their items is excellent and they feel really high quality. I wear my navy T- shirt and grey body for both work and leisure time– they are really multi-functional. Here you can read an interview with the brand founder Penny.

Ethcs

This is a really cool, vegan and organic brand making unisex clothing.  A heavy and soft organic cotton makes them super snugly. This brand I would describe as sporty street wear. They have classic joggers, jumpers, hoodies and t-shirts.

Nysno Design

This is a pretty new brand making clothing from a mixture of organic cotton and recycled materials. The clothes are Soil Association, OKEO-Tex and GOTS certified. The hoodie I have is a slightly fitted style with a lovely deep pocket in the front and really great detail on the stitching.
